Specific Job Description:

The role in question is for someone to assist the Strategy team. This team plays a critical role in supporting CIB Strategy in UK, Asia and US across the responsibilities described in the next section. The hire, in addition to being heavily involved in managing the work below, would need to:

 - Contribute to the overall team’s workflow – ensuring that deliverables are completed accurately and on a timely basis
 - Be able to learn content quickly – although investment banking experience is not a pre-requisite, the role involves researching and analyzing new topics on a regular basis
 - Be creative in applying knowledge and skills to research and analytics – should be able to take an issue and think around potential solutions and drive these to a conclusion
 - Look for ways to create efficiencies in processes

Overview:

Primary responsibility of the team includes analysis and review of CIB performance vis-à-vis leading Investment banks, both qualitatively and quantitatively. We also provide extensive support in preparation of various briefing documents and presentations to help senior management in their internal and external communications. The team is responding to requests directly from the head of the Investment Bank, the COO and the Head of Strategy, so is an extremely well regarded team with high visibility.

Quantitative analysis:

We analyse quarterly performance of the leading Investment banks across revenues, costs, capital, balance sheet and other key metrics. Output includes:

 - Immediate feedback to senior management (including the head of the Investment Bank) on key aspects of results

 - Discussion of results with other internal teams

 - Analysis of results for use by CIB senior management, DB Management Board and Group Executive Committee, Press, Investor Relations and other businesses within CIB

 - Analysis of competitor investor days

 - Quarterly competitor review: document containing quarterly performance of global investment banking industry. Covers revenues, costs, VaR, market performance, strategic and regulatory developments and people moves at the leading banks. Additionally, the report covers broad industry trends such as market participant and regulatory trends, plus league table rankings. It is used as the main point of reference for competitor information on CIB.

Qualitative analysis:

In order to make sure that the Strategy team is fully briefed on ongoing market trends we summarise analyst and industry reports and our competitors. In addition, we also summarise market research reports

Presentation and briefing materials:

Much of the above information is synthesised for use in presentations. We also provide significant support on other analysis and research required by senior management.

Requirements:

 - 4-7 years of experience
 - Ability to structure tasks and deliver high quality output with minimal oversight
 - Management consulting experience
 - Excellent Excel skills, Word, Power point skills
 - Strong analytical skills, detail orientation, service commitment & interpersonal skills
 - Strong verbal and written communication skills
 - Handle work pressure and organize tasks in order to meet deadlines
 - Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, prioritizes multiple tasks, and meets strict deadlines
