Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the day to day Operations for the Trade Finance Bookings & Payments Processing Function. The candidate will report to a Team Leader. 

 

1. Roles & Responsibilities - include specific functions/ tasks/ performance objectives

·   Independently responsible for Checking and processing of Instructions and documents presented under import Letters of Credit & Collections

·   Responsible for knowing ICC rules and regulations and all applicable rules.

·   Ensure that other threshold limits are strictly adhered for checking, processing and for sending advices/courier.

·   In case of Export documents ensure customer instructions are strictly adhered including financing request, if any.  In case of Import documents responsible for obtaining proof of delivery (swift acknowledgement) for all discrepant documents processed ensuring rejection messages are faxed / couriered to the presenting bank.

·   Review all the discrepancies and escalate/discuss for a decision with immediate supervisor/manager

·   Ensure Anti Money Laundering guidelines are strictly followed and doubtful transactions are promptly escalated to immediate supervisor/manager

·   Continuous monitoring of intra-day transactions ensuring pending job at end of day is recorded for prompt disposal through control sheets, reminders, follow-up

·   Responsible for regular balancing of records, MIS reporting and up keep of all transaction files.

Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager and to involve in any other project work assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

2.   Essential Skills & Experience -- include specifics regarding academic/ professional qualifications (e.g. degree, university, results), # yrs total and # yrs relevant work experience, relevant employers, relevant experience (nature of work/ job functions)

 

Strong computer skills are essential.  Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software products is required.  Must be technologically proficient and have attention to detail and accuracy.  Strong problem solving skills to quality control are essential.   Effective written and oral communication with good analytical skills required.  Position communicates and seeks counsel with appropriate individuals on questionable or unprecedented issues.  Required skills include:

 

Minimum 1 - 2 yrs trade experience performing

-          Processing Import LC's including Issuance / Amendment / Document Examination and Payment functions

-          Processing Import Collections including Collection setup / Amendment / Acceptance and payment

 

Required Skills include:

  • Thorough ofUCP600, URR, ISBP, Boycott regulations & OFAC compliance requirement required
  • 1 - 2 yrs. working knowledge of Import LC's and Import Collections
  • Familiarity with usage of computer applications and systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word and PowerPoint primarily)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressures controlled by deadlines and financial risk
  • Ability to make rational, quick judgments to problem situations
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment with general supervision
  • Aptitude for analyzing issues and information accurately and providing recommendations for solutions.
  • Basic data entry skills
