Technology Consultant Project

Goal: Our project goal is to research the minimum technological tools that meet the criteria for accessing, communicating, and displaying information in rural areas. Project Description: Desta seeks to determine effective, affordable, scalable solutions for sharing and receiving information in rural communities. Desta reasons that to do this will require tools for sending and receiving information (smart phone, netbook, computer, etc) and tools for presenting information (projector, DVD players and TVs, netbooks, etc).

When the best solution is found, Desta believes that it can have a significant impact on alleviating poverty through providing cost effective expertise in agriculture, animal husbandry, health, education and financial services previously unavailable in low income and rural communities. Duration of project: Seven Months

Responsibilities: Identify the technology tools to test in villages Conduct extensive testing of these technology tools packages with Desta village managers Find out the most cost effective packages to provide any expert service in villages Author and publish a research paper on the findings Preferred

Qualifications: Needs to have experience working with technology tools such as smartphones, tablets, projects, DVD players, etc. Should be aware of new developments and possible future developments in such technology tools space Experience in publishing research reports on such technology projects is preferred Experience working in villages in preferred Strong analytical ability is a must Computer Science or Information Technology graduate/undergraduate from a tier 1 engineering school
